ucci has teased a collaboration with Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, to create a metaverse-oriented partnership to blur the physical and digital boundaries. Now, the collaboration is beginning to materialize.
Yuga Labs has announced a new limited-edition series called Otherside: Relics by Gucci, which includes physical Gucci products and associated NFTs that are tied into the lore of Yuga’s upcoming metaverse game, Otherside.
The game revolves around a mysterious species of aliens called “Koda” and their relationship with the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) apes. The game has been previewed by Otherdeed owners, who have rights to virtual land plots within the game, but it has yet to be fully launched.
Yuga Labs and Gucci's collaboration has introduced a limited-edition series called Otherside: Relics by Gucci. The first item to be released is KodaPendant, an NFT that represents both a physical piece of jewelry and a nonfungible token that will grant various benefits in the Otherside metaverse. Only those who currently hold Koda or Vessel NFTs will have the opportunity to purchase KodaPendants. Last year, 10,000 Koda NFTs were discreetly embedded among the 100,000 Otherdeeds released. Additionally, every Otherdeed holder has the right to claim a Vessel NFT. Yuga announced this during the Legends of the Mara reveal last week, an upcoming 2D gaming experience that adds to the Otherside universe's mythology.
This implies that anyone holding an Otherdeed will be eligible to purchase KodaPendants. Yuga Labs will enhance the Koda and Vessel NFTs to include a digital representation of the jewelry associated with KodaPendants. In addition, the KodaPendant will enable special avatar customization options when the Otherside metaverse launches later this year.
At no extra expense, KodaPendant holders will be eligible to receive a physical piece of jewelry from Gucci later in the year. It will come with a silver chain and pendant in the shape of a Koda alien, engraved with "GG," which stands for "good game" in gamer lingo. Additionally, each physical KodaPendant will bear a unique edition number on the back.
