Telefonica, one of Spain's largest telephone and mobile network providers, has collaborated with Bit2Me to allow customers to pay for services in digital assets.

In the Iberian country, cryptocurrency adoption appears to be high. Vueling, the leading airline company, announced a few months ago that travelers would be able to buy flight tickets in bitcoin and other assets beginning in January 2023.

On its online marketplace called Tu, customers can settle bills in a variety of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), USDC, and others.

The company collaborated with the Spanish digital asset platform Bit2Me, which offered the infrastructure and will monitor the transactions to enable cryptocurrency payments.

The news piqued the interest of Binance's CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), who discussed it on his personal Twitter account.

It's worth mentioning that his company has recently grown into the Spanish market. Binance's subsidiary, Moon Tech Spain, garnered regulatory approval to register as a Virtual Asset Services Provider (VASP) in the European country two months ago.

"MoonTech's registration in Spain is an acknowledgment of our teams' hard work and commitment to providing a platform that prioritizes user protection above all else," Zhao said.

Vueling has also jumped on board

This Barcelona-based airline is another prominent Spanish company recently joining the crypto ecosystem. It partnered with BitPay in June to allow customers to purchase tickets in 13 different digital currencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and others.

The move is expected to take effect in early 2023, making Vueling the first low-cost airline in Europe to accept cryptocurrencies as a payment method.
