ccording to a tweet from NFT and metaverse trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis on August 22, the music star known for her distinctive hoarse voice joins a number of organizations and brands seeking growth in the digital space after submitting two trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on August 16 for 'Miley' and 'Miley Cyrus.'

The trademark filings hint at the singer's intentions for NFTs, virtual currency management software, digital clothing, and footwear. Officially, the trademarks are logged under serial numbers 97551201 and 97551195.

Other names make their way into the metaverse

The announcement comes after fellow recording artist Billie Eilish reported in May that her company Lash Music LLC had submitted a pair of trademark applications for her signature and the Blohsh logo.

Eilish's decision was not surprising, given that Universal Music Group (UMG) recently launched a partnership with NFT platform Curio. Billie Eilish is a well-known recording artist under UMG.

In other news, American rapper Snoop Dogg continues to make inroads into NFTs and the metaverse, having applied for new trademarks for various products in June. Calvin Broadus, aka Snoop Dogg, filed the application for UNCLE SNOOP and UNCLE SNOOP'S.

He is one of the celebrities who has embraced NFTs and the metaverse since their inception, collaborating with various creators.

Another name who took his brand to the metaverse was David Beckham. He applied with California-based DB Ventures Limited, the venture capital firm operated by the football star-turned-businessman.

Finally, as Finbold published, NFT-related trademark applications in the United States continue to rise, surpassing 4,000 between January 1 and May 31, 2022, implying that approximately 27 new NFT trademarks were submitted daily in the first half of the year.
